The library service is designed to meet the learning needs of practitioners and researchers and provides a wealth of materials aimed to improve an understanding of all aspects of dementia care. Information is available through:

  • Books, reports and videos focussing on practice, policy research and clinical issues relating to dementia. In addition a selection of over 25 local and international journals are now available. Several of these journals can be accessed electronically.

  • Access to databases is available through Ovid and literature searches can be conducted on one or more systems simultaneously. Access to the Cochrane Library and Harrison’s On-Line databases are also available through the library at the DSIDC.

Library resources at the DSIDC cannot be accessed from outside. Most of the journal materials held in the library date back to 1999 when it was first established. However some of the journals available electronically enable the user to peruse abstracts which date back to earlier issues. The library is for reference purposes only and loans are not available.

Library assistance and access to information services can be made by contacting the Centre’s Administrator by mail, fax or phone. A photocopying service and printer is available at the library. The library is open between 10 am and 12 mid-day and between 2pm and 4pm. To ensure access, please call the Centre to arrange your visit: 01 416 2035.
